GERHARD BOTZ, geboren 1941 in Oberösterreich; Studium der Geographie, Biologie und Geschichte an der Universität Wien, Dr. phil. 1967; 1965-68 Dokumentar an der Arbeiterkammer Wien; 1968-79 Assistent und 1979/80 Dozent an der Universität Linz; 1980-97 o. Professor für österreichische Geschichte an der Universität Salzburg; Gastprofessuren an der University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, an der Stanford University und an der École des Hautes Études, Paris; seit 1982 Leiter des Ludwig Boltzmann-Instituts für Historische Sozialwissenschaft, Salzburg-Wien; seit 1997 o. Professor für Zeitgeschichte an der Universität Wien.

Gerhard Botz who was born in Upper Austria in 1941 studied geography, biology and history at the University of Vienna. He was visiting professor at the University of Minnesota, the Stanford University and the École des Haute Études in Paris.He is now director at the Ludwig Boltzmann-Institute for the history of social science (Salzburg and Vienna) and professor for contemporary history at the University of Vienna.
